Having initially shown great enthusiasm for allowing residential property investment in pension schemes, the Government have completely backtracked on their previous proposals on this subject. Amendments have been drafted which will no longer make direct investment into residential property investment viable.

Whilst this is a significant blow to many investors who were planning to go down this route with their pension funds, the door has not been totally slammed in their faces. It will still be possible to invest in residential investment opportunities through collective investments.
